Registered dietitian for weight loss in Barcelona and online

More than 17 years of saying goodbye to diets

For more than 17 years we have steered away from restrictive diets, hunger and the culture of putting up with it to lose weight. Our goal is not temporary.

With a personalised approach, we help you understand your eating, enjoy the process and achieve results you can keep over time. We work with nutrition education and follow-up, not a fixed plan.

Start with these guides

The most common questions, explained by our dietitians. In the consultation we apply them to your case.

At Alimmenta we help you lose weight without restrictive diets or hunger. For more than 17 years we have applied nutrition education instead of a fixed plan: we start from how you eat today, adjust the plan at every follow-up and give you the tools to keep the weight off once you reach it. Our goal is for the change to last for good. In Barcelona and online.

What we do

We assess your whole situation: weight history, blood tests if you bring them, physical activity, schedules and what you have tried before.
We design an eating plan around your meals, budget and diary, not a generic menu.
We look after protein intake and strength work so that what you lose is fat rather than muscle.
We support you through difficult weeks: travel, eating out, night shifts and anxiety around food.
We prepare maintenance from the first appointment, because it is the part that is almost never taught.
We refer you to nutrition psychology or to your doctor when what lies behind it cannot be resolved with a plan.

What we don't do

We do not prescribe crash diets or severe calorie restriction.
We do not recommend or sell fat burners, carbohydrate blockers or meal-replacement shakes.
We do not promise a number of kilos or a date.
We do not diagnose or adjust medication: your doctor does that.
We do not treat an eating disorder in a nutrition consultation: we identify it and refer you.
We do not make the scales the centre of everything if that harms you.

Who this consultation is for

  • You have lost weight and regained it several times, and do not want to repeat the same cycle.

  • You want to lose fat without losing strength, and you train or want to start training.

  • Your doctor has told you that losing weight could help with your blood pressure, blood sugar or cholesterol.

  • You eat reasonably from Monday to Thursday and at the weekend things get out of hand.

  • You do not know where to start, and every place you ask tells you something different.

  • You take or have taken medication for weight, and want the change to hold once you stop it.

How we work

  • Tell us what is happening

Our reception team gathers your situation, what you have tried and what concerns you, and assigns you to a registered dietitian from the team. If what you tell us points to another type of consultation —or another professional—, we will tell you before you come.

  • First appointment

We review your weight history, blood tests if you have them, how you really eat on a normal day and what you can change without it taking over your life. You leave with two or three specific changes and the reason for each one, not an impossible list.

  • Your plan and adjustments

You receive guidance for your meals, alternatives for unusual days and a way to eat out without having to redo everything. At follow-up appointments, we adjust it to what has really happened, not to what should have happened.

  • Maintaining what you have achieved

When you reach where you wanted to be, the work changes: we gradually increase intake, consolidate habits and space out appointments. Discharge is part of the plan from day one.

Who you’ll see

The same person sees you from your first visit to discharge.

Frequently asked questions

How many kilos will I lose, and how long will it take?

We do not give a number or a date, and be wary of anyone who gives you one on the first call. The pace depends on your starting point, activity, medication and the life you have ahead over those months. What we do is set reviewable goals with you and teach you to read progress through more than the scales.

Will I go hungry?

That is not the plan. Guidance that leaves you hungry gets abandoned, which is why it does not work in the medium term. We work with filling meals —enough protein, fibre and volume— and with your real schedules. If you are constantly hungry, that is information: we review it at the next appointment and adjust; we do not ask you to put up with it.

Does it matter if I do not eat everything?

If one day you skip your fruit, leave out the carbohydrates or do not finish your protein, it does not matter. The problem is when skipping becomes a habit, out of routine or poor planning. Your plan already has the deficit you need to lose fat; if you remove food from it, it becomes too low in energy, makes you hungrier and is harder to keep up. If something does not fit, tell us and we will look for another option.

Do I have to weigh myself every day?

No. Scales are one piece of information among several, and for many people they do more harm than good. Together we decide how often weighing yourself makes sense —or whether not to weigh yourself—, and we also look at how your clothes fit, your strength, rest and blood tests.

Do I need to exercise?

You can start without training, but strength work does the most to help make sure that what you lose is fat rather than muscle. If you do not do anything, we begin with something sustainable; if you already train, we adapt food to your sessions. We do not prescribe training: that is for your coach or physiotherapist.

How much does the first appointment cost?

You see the price before booking, in the panel on this page and on the fees page. The first appointment is longer than follow-ups because it is where the groundwork is done. There is no commitment to continue: you decide afterwards. If you have insurance under an agreement, the consultation costs less.

Can it be done online?

Yes, with the same professional, the same follow-up and the same price. You can start online and move to in-person appointments, or the other way round. Video consultation works well here: what is needed is time to talk and consistency with follow-up, not being in the same room.

Nutrition visits do not replace your doctor’s care. If you are under treatment, we work alongside them.
