Start with these guides

The most common questions, explained by our dietitians. In the consultation we apply them to your case.

With food intolerances or allergies, the dietitian’s work starts with your diagnosis from your allergist or gastroenterologist. We teach you what to avoid and in what quantity, how to read labels, eat out and cover what restriction leaves out. Your doctor requests the tests. We see you in Barcelona and online.

What we do

We work from your diagnosis and your allergy, breath or coeliac disease tests.
We teach you to read labels and recognise the different names under which your allergen may appear.
We cover what restriction leaves out, such as calcium, iron, fibre or protein.
We work on everyday situations, such as restaurants, travel, school meals, family dinners and cross-contamination at home.
We look for your threshold when the intolerance allows it, because it is almost never all or nothing.
We review the foods you have already stopped eating and bring back what was removed without reason.

What we don't do

We do not carry out or interpret unvalidated tests such as IgG, bioresonance, blood under a microscope, hair analysis, kinesiology or stool microbiota. We do not use serum DAO or sorbitol tests to diagnose intolerances, or genetics alone to diagnose coeliac disease. We do not diagnose allergies or intolerances. Your allergist or gastroenterologist makes the diagnosis.
We do not reintroduce allergens. If you have an allergy, your allergist decides on and supervises reintroduction. We do not remove gluten for anyone awaiting coeliac disease tests. We do not prescribe adrenaline or any treatment for an allergic reaction.
We do not call everything that makes you feel unwell an “intolerance”.

Who this consultation is for

  • You have a diagnosed allergy to LTP, eggs or nuts, and eating out worries you.

  • You have lactose, fructose or sorbitol intolerance and your list of foods keeps shrinking.

  • You have coeliac disease diagnosed by biopsy or serology and cannot find a routine that works.

  • Gluten makes you feel unwell, coeliac disease has been ruled out and you do not know what to do now.

  • Your child has a food allergy and you need to organise school meals, birthdays and shopping.

  • An online intolerance test has given you a very long list and you do not know what to do with it.

How we work

  • First appointment

We review your reports, what you avoid today and since when, and how it affects you at home and outside. You leave with your first recommendations and know what to avoid and which foods you can eat again or try in a different quantity.

  • The eating plan and shopping

At the second appointment you take away your eating plan, with alternatives for each food you avoid and the names to look for on labels.

  • Another step every fortnight

We work through difficult moments, such as a restaurant, a trip or school meals, and check that you are not missing calcium, iron or fibre because of what you have stopped eating.

  • Careful reintroduction

If it is an intolerance, we try quantities in an organised way until we find your margin. If it is an allergy, your allergist decides on and supervises any test. Then, reviews every three months.

Frequently asked questions

Do you offer intolerance tests?

No, for a clinical reason. IgG tests, bioresonance, hair analysis, kinesiology and stool microbiota are not validated. Serum DAO and sorbitol tests are not suitable for diagnosing intolerances either, nor is genetics alone for diagnosing coeliac disease. Some return very long lists of “positive” foods that end up making your diet less varied without reason. Your doctor requests the tests that do work, such as hydrogen breath tests, skin tests, specific IgE, serology and biopsy.

Do I have to stop eating that food completely?

It depends on whether it is an allergy or an intolerance, which is the main difference between the two. With an allergy, avoidance is strict and your allergist decides on any change. With an intolerance, there is usually a threshold: many people tolerate small amounts or certain forms of the food. The allergies and intolerances guide explains how they differ.

Gluten makes me feel unwell but I do not have coeliac disease. What should I do?

If you are being investigated, wait. Without gluten, serology and biopsy can come back normal even if you have coeliac disease. If coeliac disease and wheat allergy have already been ruled out, it may be non-coeliac gluten sensitivity. Other components of the cereal can also make you feel unwell. We look into it systematically.

What if I have a severe reaction?

If you have ever had difficulty breathing or swelling of your lips, tongue or throat after eating, that is a medical emergency. The adrenaline autoinjector, action plan and follow-up are your allergist’s responsibility, according to EAACI 2021. We work on everyday eating so you can eat safely.

How much does the first appointment cost?

The first appointment costs 70 € and lasts 45 minutes, in person or by video call. If you decide to continue, the 5-appointment package, which we recommend, costs 320 € (the 10-appointment package costs 560 €). Some insurers have agreements that reduce the consultation price; check them in the insurance section.

Can it be done online?

Yes, and there is an advantage: you can show us your pantry labels through the camera, which is one of the most useful parts of this consultation. The professional and price are the same as in person, and you receive your eating plan by email.

Nutrition visits do not replace your doctor’s care. If you are under treatment, we work alongside them.
