GLP-1 nutritional support (Ozempic, Wegovy, Mounjaro) in Barcelona and online

The medicine takes away your appetite. What you eat even when you have less appetite, and what happens when you stop it, is what we work on here.

Book my first visit

Five-phase programme validated by Juana Mª González, Technical Director (Col. CAT000921) · Updated on 21/09/2026. Your doctor always decides the dose.

Where are you right now?

Before your first dose is the best time

If you’re starting, have a plan: what to eat when you have very little appetite, and how to look after your muscle from the first week.

  • We measure your starting body fat, muscle and strength
  • You leave with your minimum protein and fluid targets for your first dose

If you’re already taking it, what matters is what you lose

We review what you actually eat, help you with nausea or constipation, and measure whether what you lose is fat rather than muscle.

  • Protein tailored to your weight and stage of treatment
  • Body fat and muscle measurements every few weeks at your appointment
How much protein do you need? Work it out in a minute →

Stopping also takes preparation

Whatever your doctor’s plan, we prepare in good time: gradual reintroduction, strength work and more frequent appointments during the first few months.

  • A written plan for coming off the medication before your last dose
  • Psychonutrition support if hunger returns with anxiety
Before you stop: are you losing muscle? Take the quiz →

What you tell us

Three things we hear every week

These aren’t patients’ opinions: they’re the questions we hear most often in appointments, and how we answer them.

‘I know lots of people who are injecting themselves. What do you think?’

It’s a medical treatment, not a trend, and it’s prescribed by your doctor. If you take it, our job is to help it work in your favour: to make sure you eat enough, preserve muscle and learn habits that stay with you when you stop taking it.

‘I’ve been told to eat high-protein yoghurts.’

They can help sometimes, but they aren’t a plan. Spread protein across all your meals, using foods you can manage even when your appetite is low: eggs, pulses, fish, meat, dairy or tofu. We give you specific amounts tailored to you.

‘My doctor said I might be able to keep taking it at a low dose afterwards.’

That may be an option, and your doctor decides. Whether you continue or stop, what supports the result is what you’ve learnt about eating and the strength you’ve built while taking it. That’s what we work on with you.

What the scales don't show

The medication reduces hunger. The rest takes work

Three things we see in appointments that don’t depend on the dose.

You can lose muscle too

When you lose weight quickly while eating very little, some of what you lose is muscle: in studies of these medicines, between a quarter and almost two-fifths of the weight lost. That’s why we measure fat and muscle, not just weight.

Are you losing muscle? Take the quiz →

Eating so little that you’re not getting enough

When your appetite is suppressed, it’s easy to miss meals without realising. We see it often: without someone keeping an eye on things, some people end up eating very little. Too little protein, fluid and fibre can lead to tiredness, constipation or hair loss.

Work out the protein you need →

Worrying about what happens next

When you stop the medication, your hunger returns. Studies show that, on average, more than half the weight lost is regained within a year of stopping. It isn’t your fault: that’s how the treatment works. That’s why we prepare for coming off it from day one.

The programme

Your journey with us, in five phases

Each phase lasts as long as you need; the timings are only a guide. Choose a phase to see what we do, what we measure and how often we meet.

Phase 0 · Before you start or when you join

Assessment and preparation

You have your prescription, or you’ve just started, and you have lots of questions.

What we do
We review your health, blood test results and eating habits. We discuss realistic expectations and explore your relationship with food before you start; if needed, psychology support is involved from day one.
What we measure
Your body composition (fat and muscle) and a baseline strength test.
How often we meet
A first 45-minute appointment and a second appointment a week later, with your plan in writing.

Phase 1 · Weeks 0 to 16-20

Dose escalation

Each dose increase can bring nausea, feeling full very quickly or constipation.

What we do
Guidance to help symptoms from making you stop, plus hydration and minimum protein targets even when you eat very little.
What we measure
How you tolerate each dose and whether you’re getting the protein you need.
How often we meet
Every two weeks, with a check-in 48–72 hours after each dose increase, when side effects often appear.
Work out your daily protein →

Phase 2 · Months 4 to 12, roughly

Active weight loss

You’re losing weight and many people feel more upbeat and more inclined to move. This is the time to make the most of it.

What we do
Protect muscle with protein and strength work, and build habits that keep working when you’re no longer taking the medication.
What we measure
What you lose. Our reference point for monitoring in appointments: for every 4 kilos, at least 3 should be fat.
How often we meet
Every three weeks, with body composition measured every six weeks.
Are you losing muscle? Take the quiz →

Phase 3 · From month 12-18, roughly

Plateau and maintenance on the medication

Your weight stabilises and the question comes up: should I carry on, reduce the dose or stop?

What we do
Consolidate what you’ve learnt and prepare to talk to your doctor about continuing, reducing or stopping the medication.
What we measure
Weight stability, strength and blood test results.
How often we meet
Every 4 to 6 weeks, then every three months.

Phase 4 · Up to 12 months after stopping

Tapering, stopping and landing

Hunger returns, along with the fear of regaining what you’ve lost. This is the phase when we stay closest to you.

What we do
A written plan for coming off the medication, gradual reintroduction, prioritising strength, and psychology support if hunger returns with anxiety.
What we measure
Your weight, body composition and the first signs of regain, so we can act in good time.
How often we meet
Every three weeks for the first three months, monthly until month six, then every two months until the end of the year.
What happens when you stop: the rebound effect →

Your doctor always decides the dose and when to increase, reduce or stop it. We work with the dose they prescribe and, if you ask us, we can coordinate with them in writing.

A year from now

This is how we want you to feel

This isn’t a promise about kilos. It’s what we work towards with you, phase by phase.

You feel at ease around food

You eat when you’re hungry, without fear. You know what to put on your plate on an ordinary Tuesday, in a restaurant or at a family meal.

You feel stronger

You walk upstairs carrying the shopping and notice the difference. You’ve lost fat and looked after your muscle along the way.

Your habits support the change

What you’ve lost is supported by how you eat, move and rest, not just by a dose.

You make decisions calmly

Whether you’re still taking the medication or have stopped, you know what to do. You make the decision with your doctor, with a plan and without rushing.

To be honest, no one can guarantee that you won’t regain weight. What we can offer is a method with progress measured at every stage, and a team that stays by your side when you stop the medication.

What's included

What’s included in the programme

  • Body fat and muscle measurements

At in-person appointments, we measure your body composition, not just your weight.

  • Your relationship with food, before you start

A questionnaire before your first appointment. If needed, psychology support is involved from the outset.

  • Check-in after every dose increase

A message or phone call 48–72 hours after each change, when side effects often appear.

  • Email access to your dietitian

You can email us between appointments if anything changes.

  • Coordination with your doctor

If you ask us, we’ll send them a report. Your doctor always decides the dose.

  • A written plan for coming off the medication

A schedule for reintroducing foods and appointments for when you decide to stop the medication.

What we do

  • We review how much you actually eat, which with a GLP-1 is usually less than you think.
  • We adjust protein and meal distribution to protect muscle while you lose weight. We give you guidance for nausea, reflux, constipation and feeling full quickly.
  • We include strength training in the plan, with or without a gym, and tell you when an exercise professional would be helpful.
  • We prepare with you, in good time, a plan for the day you stop the medicine.
  • We look at your relationship with food when appetite returns, with nutrition psychology if needed.

What we don't do

  • We do not diagnose or prescribe. Your doctor prescribes and monitors the medicine.
  • We do not obtain the medicine for you or give opinions on your dose or when to increase or reduce it.
  • We do not tell you to stop treatment or continue it. That conversation is with your doctor.
  • We do not change your diabetes medication. If you take insulin or tablets for blood sugar, your doctor adjusts it.
  • We do not promise that you will not regain weight after stopping. That is why we prepare for stopping in good time.
  • We do not sell supplements, shakes or “supports” for treatment.
