Start with these guides

The most common questions, explained by our dietitians. In the consultation we apply them to your case.

We help you eat with peace of mind during pregnancy. We review what suits you in each trimester, which foods are best avoided and how to organise meals if you have nausea, heartburn or gestational diabetes. We work alongside your obstetrician or midwife, without changing their advice. In Barcelona and online.

What we do

We review how you eat in each trimester and prepare easy options for days with nausea, heartburn or tiredness.
We clarify which foods are best avoided and how to prepare the rest safely.
If you have gestational diabetes, we organise how meals are spread using the data from your obstetric team.
We follow you through your pregnancy and coordinate with your obstetrician or midwife if you authorise it.

What we don't do

We do not diagnose gestational diabetes or other complications: the diagnosis is made by your obstetric team.
We do not change your medication or your supplements. Your obstetrician or midwife prescribes them.
We do not set weight loss goals during pregnancy.
We do not ask for perfection in the weeks when you can only tolerate what you can tolerate.

Who this consultation is for

  • You are pregnant or trying to conceive and want to know what to eat, without endless lists of bans.

  • You have nausea, heartburn or food aversions and find it hard to keep meals down comfortably.

  • You have been diagnosed with gestational diabetes and don't know how to spread carbohydrates through the day.

  • You worry about fish, coffee or foods with a risk of listeria and want to know what you can eat.

How we work

  • First 45-minute visit

We listen to how your pregnancy is going, from your week and blood tests to your symptoms and how you eat on a normal day. We answer your questions about risky foods. The first guidance comes out of it. The plan is not handed over at this visit.

  • Your plan, within a week

At the second visit you receive your written plan, with alternatives for days with nausea or little appetite. If you have gestational diabetes, we organise how meals are spread using the data from your obstetric team.

  • Follow-up

Every few weeks we review how meals are sitting with you, your energy and what changes with each trimester. We adjust the plan to what you notice and to what your medical team advises.

Who you’ll see

The same person sees you from your first visit to discharge.

Frequently asked questions

Which foods should I avoid in pregnancy?

It depends on the individual, but there is a well-known group of foods, such as raw or undercooked foods, some cheeses, cured meats and fish higher in mercury. At the first visit we go through which ones affect you, based on what you eat, and how to prepare them safely, so you don’t have to cut out foods out of fear.

What should I do if I have nausea and can hardly eat?

We try small meals, textures and times that sit better with you, and we look at what you manage when you don’t feel like anything. If you cannot keep down fluids or food, tell your obstetrician or midwife as soon as possible so they can assess it.

Do you recommend supplements, and how much weight should I gain?

We do not prescribe supplements or doses. Your obstetrician or midwife will tell you which ones you need, and we review what your diet already provides. Your obstetric team monitors your weight. We do not set weight loss goals for you.

How much does the first visit cost?

You can see the price of the first visit in the booking panel, before requesting an appointment. It lasts 45 minutes and, if you continue with us, there is a bundle of visits. If your insurer has an agreement with Alimmenta, see the insurance section.

Nutrition visits do not replace your doctor’s care. If you are under treatment, we work alongside them.
